Explore the Jungfrau Region in three days with the E-MTB

This round tour by e-bike takes you from the imposing mountain and glacier landscape of the world-famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate to the crystal-clear Lake Brienz and back to Grindelwald.

The tour starts and ends in Grindelwald, at the foot of the mighty Eiger and its historic north face. The three daily stages take you from one postcard motif to the next: picturesque hamlets and chalet-style villages, stunning mountain and glacier views, spectacular waterfalls and the crystal-clear Lake Brienz. The route runs along attractive and perfectly signposted bike paths. The region is just too predestined to be discovered by e-bike. Battery charging stations are available at various locations along the route. Depending on battery performance, however, we recommend that you take a spare battery with you in your daypack.

Procedure and overnight stays: Grindelwald - Kleine Scheidegg - Wengen - Lauterbrunnen - Grütschalp - Mürren (overnight stay) - Stechelberg - Lauterbrunnen - Interlaken - Brienz - Meiringen (overnight stay) - Grosse Scheidegg - Grindelwald

Descriptions of the daily stages:

Day 1: Grindelwald - Mürren

Easy Tour: 30 km, 1200 m altitude, 600 m depth
Medium Tour: 35 km, 2100 m altitude, 1500 m depth

The tour starts with a longer ascent of a good 1100 metres on an asphalted, car-free little road to Kleine Scheidegg, the hub of the Jungfraujoch. Here the battery can be charged and the carbohydrate stores filled. And of course the impressive panorama of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau will be admired. The signposted bike route no. 1 continues via Wengen into the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland's base jump Mecca. A short detour to the world-famous Staubbach Falls is worthwhile. The second ascent to Mürren begins in Lauterbrunnen. The car-free, original panorama mountain village at the foot of the Schilthorn offers a breathtaking view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 2: Mürren - Meiringen

Facts: 60 km, 800 m altitude, 1800 m depth

From Mürren it goes along small and partly steep asphalt and alpine paths via Gimmelwald to Stechelberg. Now you roll comfortably down the Lauterbrunnen Valley, past the Trümmelbach Falls. After Lauterbrunnen, you can either ride on the right side of the river on forest paths and easy trails or on the left side of the river on the road. Depending on the time of day, some traffic can be expected here. From Zweilütschinen the bike path leads to the right of the Lütschine to Wilderswil and through Interlaken to the northern shore of Lake Brienz. From here the bike path 451 leads over partly paved, partly unpaved paths in a constant up and down, always with a beautiful view of the deep blue Lake Brienz, to Brienz. To the right of the Aare, the last kilometres of the day on cycle path No. 8 are a leisurely end to a long day on the bike.

Day 3: Meiringen - Grindelwald

Facts: 30 km, 1500 m altitude, 1050 m depth

Also on the last day of the round tour you will ride on the alpine bike route no. 1. The first attraction of the day is reached immediately after the first meters of altitude: the legendary Reichenbach Falls, where Sherlock Holmes defeated his arch-enemy Professor Moriarty. After another 400 meters of altitude difference, Rosenlaui is reached. The spectacular glacier gorge can be visited on foot, the tour takes 45 minutes. After a further 100 metres you can charge the battery at the beautiful Chalet Schwarzwaldalp while you indulge in culinary delights. Well fortified, the tour now leads up to Grosse Scheidegg and on towards First, the imposing Wetterhorn behind you. Now follows the rapid descent to Grindelwald.
