Jungfrau Region's Blogbuster Series / Nr. 39
Okay, a lot of things you probably already know, but some things you probably don't know yet. And although we can't wait, we still have to give you some basic information before we can give you a warm welcome to the Jungfrau Region. You should remember these 8 facts before your trip to the Jungfrau Region to avoid being a noob.
#1 Peak
The highest point of the region is the summit of the Jungfrau (4,158 m above sea level) and the lowest point is Interlaken (570 m above sea level). Interlaken is also considered the «gateway to the Alps» and is therefore an important starting point for travelling to the Jungfrau Region.

#2 Season
The four seasons determine not only the weather in the Jungfrau Region but also the peak tourist times. The coldest months are December to February, the warmest temperatures are in the months June to August.

#3 Languages
Swiss German (dialect form of High German) is spoken in the Jungfrau Region. High German is understood everywhere as well as French and English. In highly frequented tourist areas, we also get information in many other foreign languages.

#4 Triumvirate
The world-famous triumvirate of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is the most striking landmark of the Jungfrau Region.

#5 Resorts
The five holiday resorts of Grindelwald, Wengen, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen and Haslital together form the Jungfrau Region holiday destination. It is located in the Oberland, or highlands, of the canton of Berne.

#6 Currency
In Switzerland, payments are made in Swiss francs. Euros are accepted in many places, but change is often given in Swiss francs.

#7 Credit Cards
Credit cards: The safest and simplest means of payment are credit cards. Important: In some mountain restaurants in the Jungfrau Region, it is not possible to pay with a card (cash only).

#8 Tipping
Tipping is included in the price in Switzerland. However, rounding up to the nearest franc or round amount will always put a smile on your server’s face.
