Adults are satisfied with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as motivation for hiking. But how to convince the next generation? The Detective Trail manages that easily. On the mystery trail the whole family goes on a treasure hunt. The easy route leads from Grütschalp via Winteregg to Mürren. There are 16 puzzles to be solved. They deal with the mountains, plants, animals and much more.

The questions can be answered on the "Detective Trail Mürren" app. Those who prefer to use something other than their mobile phone can also print out the questions or pick up the documents at Grütschalp station or at the Alpine Sports Centre Mürren.

Start hiking - pay attention - solve the riddles. The children will be so busy that they will forget that they have walked a few kilometres in the meantime. The large chest at the end of the path entices with a refreshing prize for all treasure hunters who can crack the combination lock.

Author Tips

For the return from Mürren to Lauterbrunnen we recommend using the route via Stechelberg by gondola and post bus.

Equipment

  • Print documents. We also recommend taking a pen and paper with you so that you can take notes.
  • The solar radiation is increased in the mountains. Sunscreen with a high protection factor, a sun hat and sunglasses with UV protection should definitely be carried in your luggage.
  • Also in summer and when the weather is fine, warm clothing and a raincoat should be included. The layer principle with different layers of clothing is recommended.
  • First-aid kit
  • Food and water

Step by Step Directions

Grütschalp - Winteregg - Mürren (Walking time: 1h30. Additional time for riddles: 1h)

The first riddle already begins at the Grütschalp station. First the tracks have to be crossed so that we can tackle the small ascent to the left. On the gravel path we follow the hiking trail towards Mürren. This leads us through the forest and along the railway tracks. On the way many benches invite you to stay. These are of course all placed with a view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. After we have visited the Winteregg stop, we continue walking above the railway line. From time to time we see the little train passing by and can wave to the passengers. After reaching Mürren railway station, we have to walk up a short distance on the asphalt road until we reach the sports centre and thus the end of the trail.
