E-MTB Jungfrau Loop
With the E-MTB around the impressive Jungfrau Region
The trail highlights in four days
On this sporty stage tour you will experience the trail highlights of the Jungfrau Region in 4 days. Instead of heavy luggage, the unique and impressive panorama accompanies you day after day, your luggage is transported comfortably from hotel to hotel.
The tour starts and ends in Grindelwald. In between, you can expect classics such as the Kleine Scheidegg, the Lauberhorntrail, the Grosse Scheidegg and the Bachalpseetrail, you cycle through picturesque hamlets and villages in chalet style, and above all you enjoy stunning mountain and glacier views during the four days on the bike: Not only the world-famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, but many other 4000-metre peaks tower majestically next to the triumvirate and form the mighty backdrop of a unique natural spectacle with the rock, snow and eternal ice. The impressive views and fun trails have to be earned, despite the electric assistance, and daily stages with up to 2000 metres in altitude are on the programme. So you can definitely work up a sweat, even with an E-MTB. Battery charging stations are available at various locations along the route. Depending on the battery power, however, we recommend taking a spare battery with you in your daypack.
DAY 1 GRINDELWALD - MÜRREN
» 33 km, 2175 metres in altitude, 1560 metres in descent.
The first stage starts with a long ascent. A good 1100 metres in altitude lead you on a narrow asphalt road directly to Kleine Scheidegg. Up here, on the lift to the Jungfraujoch, we turn away from the crowd and ride with an impressive view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau towards the Lauberhorn race course, world-famous for the legendary ski race in winter. Parts of it can also be ridden by bike. You ride over single trails in the direction of Hundsschopf to Wengenalp. The rest of the descent takes you along forest paths and meadow trails to Lauterbrunnen.
In Lauterbrunnen you have to climb the next 700 metres to Grütschalp. Depending on your mood or battery status, you can also take the large cable car. From Grütschalp, you roll comfortably with an imposing panorama of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate in view to Mürren, the first stage town.
DAY 2 MÜRREN - WILDERSWIL/INTERLAKEN
» 33 km, 576 metres in altitude, 1633 metres in depth.
As usual, the tour day starts with an ascent. The 200 metres in altitude to Schiltalp take you away from civilisation. From here you jet down to the Schiltbach via the official hiking trails and continue over stones and forest floor on a varied trail into the valley. It ends at the legendary Basejump steep face in Lauterbrunnen. To finish, the bike route leads along the Weisse Lütschine to today's stage destination in Wilderswil/Interlaken.
DAY 3 WILDERSWIL/INTERLAKEN - MEIRINGEN
» 36 km, 618 metres in altitude, 620 metres in depth.
This morning you have enough time to treat yourself to a café in the nice town of Interlaken, as the stage is not too long or too difficult. It leads beautifully halfway up the northern shore of Lake Brienz along the signposted mountain bike route 451. Today is viewing day, the route is technically easy and runs mostly on wide forest paths so you can enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Brienz at any time. If the weather is fine, the lake invites you to take a refreshing dip or you can cycle directly on small asphalt roads to Meiringen and visit the impressive Aare Gorge.
DAY 4 MEIRINGEN - GRINDELWALD
» 38 km, 1900 metres in altitude, 1400 metres in descent.
On the final stage, you'll gain a lot of altitude and depth metres. Today begins with the 1300 m ascent to Grosse Scheidegg. On the way, it's worth making a detour through the legendary Rosenlaui glacier gorge. After 900 metres in altitude, you can take a break at Schwarzwaldalp to enjoy some culinary delights and recharge your batteries. The remaining 400 metres in altitude up to Grosse Scheidegg are then a piece of cake. From Grosse Scheidegg, the bike trail leads via First to Bachalpsee, the most photographed mountain lake in the Alps. The GPS track follows the hiking trail; depending on the time of day and the weather, there may be many hikers on the trail, in which case it is advisable to switch to the signposted official Alpine Bike 1 mountain bike trail. After the photo stop at the lake, you need to concentrate for the descent on fantastic and very varied trails to Grindelwald. The 1100 metres of descent over alpine paths, root stretches and trails are the crowning day and tour conclusion of this eventful 4-day tour.
